One Response to “What’s the difference between the Plasma TV and the LCD TV ?”

  • Plasma, televisions offer better picture quality. This is due to the fact that they are not backlit. Meaning they can reproduce black, and color more effectively and naturally than an LCD ever will be able to. Also since you are only waiting for an electrical current there is almost no response time, meaning that motion blur is not as prevalent of an issue as it is with many LCD televisions.

This is not to say that LCD televisions are not superior, it all depends upon the intended use of the TV. Plasma TVs more often than not will have a high gloss finish, meaning that they will reflect bright light. Also plasma televisions have issues with image retention. If you plan to use the television for gaming or as a computer monitor, or are the type to leave a DVD on pause or fall asleep watching one, you are better off going with an LCD. Also LCD uses far less energy to run.

No matter which you go with, after one hundred hours, I highly recommend paying for an ISF certified calibration. Thia means a ISF certified calibrator will come to your house and using special codes obtained after completing their certification course, adjust finite details to greatly enhance the televisions efficiency and picture quality.
