What is my LCD TV worth?

panasonic lcd tv
Shintsu asked:

I have Panasonic 26″ LCD TV (Model TC-26LX60) that I bought brand new in Mid-2007 for $750 which was on sale from the regular price of $1,100. I know the value of TVs are a lot different now, but this TV does have a fantastic picture and was highly reviewed from the places I checked online. It’s still in like new condition with original manual and remote. Of the places I found still selling this exact TV online the starting price for new ones was $705. There was one listed on eBay in like new condition for $475 as well.

So if I were to sell this on say – Craigslist – what would be a fair price for it?

  • Probably half of what you paid for it. Another way to determine price is to find out the prices of low-end 26″ TVs today, and price yours somewhat less than that.

  • Two year old tv and new one sell for $475, you will be lucky if someone will buy it for $300.

Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC-L26X1 is the 2009 26″ model from Panasonic. Amazon.com sells it for $406. So while other places might try to be selling your model still for $475, someone can get a brand new Panasonic of equal quality, with warranty, for only $400.

That means yours is best case scenario only worth like $300. But realistically you should be willing to come down to like $150-$200. Yours is used and without warranty. So you have to give a good enough price drop to warrant someone buying yours instead of just going new.

But try and sell it for as much as you want, and see if someone will bite. You could always try it at higher price and if no one bites after a couple of weeks, repost at a reduced value. Its craigslist, so its like you’re paying per word in a newspaper ad or something.
