In my opinion the LED set is better, has whole screen backlighting rather than peripheral giving a better overall range of contrast/brightness ratios. The LED backlighting hopefully will have less problems in the long run than the standard LCD set which uses a high voltage inverter and fluorescent tubes. These two have caused many problems service wise.
Go for Samsung lcd LE40B550.
