Does Anyone Else Have A Problem With The Brightness Setting On Their Samsung Hdtv?

I have found that most everything appears too dark. I’ve adjusted the brightness setting at the maximum setting and I think I could still go higher if it allowed it. Using THX Optimizer for the brightness it says to adjust to where you can just barely see the 7th dark square and I can only see about 5 squares with the brightness at maximum. Any sympathizers or suggestions?

The cable guy hooked the TV up and I noticed that he used AV ports but I see two ports called HDMI. Do I need new cables hooked to one of these ports to see a clear picture?

speakers and the surround sound at the same time?
Also when i have my laptop hooked up to the TV, i have a jack going from the headphone port on my laptop and a red and white connection going into the corresponding RGB ports at the back of the TV, but the TV still wont play the sound, any idea why? I have a macbook btw.

it was on for 20 seconds and it turned off and now it does not turn on anymore all it does is make a click noise. HELP!!!! there is power running through it becuase when i plug it in the red light turns on but once i turn it on the power goes away.

We have a Philips HDTV Model 55PP9701. It is about 6 years old and has lost the picture and sound. When it is turned on the screen does glow a silvery gray, but there is no picture or sound. It does not even show the on screen display when I tried to change video sources. There is just nothing on the screen except a silvery glow. I have a tech coming out on Monday but he will be charging 79.00 just to take a look at it. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be and is it worth fixing?

there should be some screws towards the bottome of the tv. You should be able to unscrew the screws and lift the tv off the stand.
