My friend bought a Polaroid 26 TV from Walmart, the same day I went and bought a Panasonic 37 LCD from a TV store. He came over and saw my Panasonic and said I wasted my money on crap. I think I made a smart move. Panasonic is a good brand of TV, as are Sony, Toshiba, Mitsubishi and Hitachi. He kept on saying Polaroid is a good brand. He hates it when I say it sucks. When it’s cheap, it’s for a reason! The $1300 for the Panasonic may hurt for a little while, but I know that I pay more for quality as I have had ZERO problems with it. It makes the DirecTV look great! Well, last Thursday, the Polaroid went out! $492 down the toilet. He is SO upset right now. While he is sulking and fuming about that Polaroid, I am enjoying my DirecTV and PS3 and Wii on my Panasonic LCD. When will people STOP buying cheap junk? Damn! Polaroid lasted only for 3 weeks. What is the typical lifespan of a Panasonic? How long will mine last?

I just bought a new lcd hdtv. I have a couple of questions.
1. I don’t have an hd reciever from directv, because the hd dvr combo is too much $ right now, but i thought it would look better, not as grainy, any ideas how to fix it?
2. What if i just got the hd reciever AND the dvr, is it possible to switch back and forth?

We just purchased a Sony 40″ HDTV LCD 1080p. We have a pioneer DVD surrond system and a phillips DVR. What is the easiest way to have this system setup in HD and what do I need to get this done. I am not sure if my DVR is HD but we just got it about 2yrs ago from Directv brand new. Thanks!
