Do I need a premium 15pin VGA cable for my LCD HDTV?
Can someone tell me if I need to buy a “premium” VGA/SVGA cable to connect my laptop to my new HDTV? I don’t want to do any damage to my new TV by using a cheap cable.
I currently have a 6ft VGA cable with ferrite cores I bought at a discount computer store. The cable is pretty heavy duty given its weight, and the ferrite cores, although it’s an unknown/questionable brand (Cyberwyll?)
Do I need to go buy a premium cable? I just bought a new Sharp LCD HDTV that cost me a pretty penny, and I don’t want to do anything that might harm my new investment.
Thanks everyone.

A cable can’t do any damage to your TV.
The cable will not harm the TV, but an ordinary VGA cable will not deliver full HDTV quality over long distances (more than 3 ft). If your cable is rated for SVGA use, it will probably be satisfactory for your computer use.
