Connect IBM Thinkpad Laptop to Toshiba LCD TV but screen is blue?

Hi. I’ve tried linking my IBM Thinkpad Laptop to my Toshiba LCD TV via a VGA cable. The image appears on my TV screen, but the whole screen is blue. I’ve tried changing the resolution on the laptop but that hasn’t made any difference. I’ve been told I may need to download an updated driver but I haven’t a clue what I would need. Can anyone help? The thinkpad is running with Windows XP if that means anything.

What do you mean by:
The image appears on my TV screen, but the whole screen is blue.
You have an image, but the background is blue?
Blue is the default desktop colour.
Or are you note getting red or green video on your image?
Check that you have a good video cable.

read the instruction manual of ur toshiba tv does it suppot pc input or not if yes then how>>.
Ok im not tooo sure of the layout on your laptop but there must be small icon on one of the Function buttons with two screens.So press Fn(near ctrl in blue) + that function button with 2 small screens written along with F7 or whatever no. it is on.
On my Thinkpad,Fn+F7 will would give me the image on the toshiba Screen.
You have to send the right output signal to the VGA conenctor to which the LCD is attached.
Right-click on the desktop, select Properties – Settings, select Display Properties and click on the Advanced button. Check for a tab that says “Inte Extreme Graphics” (or ATI or nVidia). Those tabs often have settings that enable the external port to send VGA signals or TV (composite) signals.
The display properties tab may also have a picture of two screens, one of which is dimmed. Click on the dimmed screen (which should be set to the VGA port). Then you can select the checkbox for “extend desktop to this display” or “clone display”.
It is likely that the Thinkpad has a special function key at the top with a “screen” icon that accomplishes the same: send cloned or extended desktop output to the external monitor.
The blue screen means the TV is not getting a video signal from the laptop or you are using the wrong input setting on the TV. Make sure on the TV it is set to VGA input. sometimes called RGB.
On you Laptop make sure that you activate the Secondary VGA output. This is normally done in control panel>display>settings> advanced setting. It can also be done on most IBM laptops by the function key and F7.
If this does not work then you need updated drivers. Go to Start>control panel>and system (classic view)> hardware>device manager and click on the + in front of display adapters and find out what display adapter you have. Then go to that company’s web site and download the diver.
OR go to the IBM web site and find your model computer and see if they have the updated drivers. Download and install the new driver (if needed)
