Can a plasma or LCD HDTV be hooked up to basic cable?
Chad asked:
There’s no set top box just a co-ax cable going into the back of my current TV. Could that just be plugged into an HDTV? What would the picture be like?

Yes…you can hook up basic cable to a HDTV as long as the TV has a tuner(you’ll see the coax connector on the back of the TV).
Just be sure to check your TV’s manual on how to program the HDTV to pick-up all the channels! Usually in set-up!
The picture quality will be less then desirable! Unless you order HD service thru the local service provider, the channels coming thru will be in SD and look awful! You can however get a indoor or outdoor antenna and get a couple local HD channels over-the-air for free! That’s another option!
Hope this helps!
youcan but you wont be getting the full benefit of the lcd picture wise. it will work though. you will just get the same quality picture as you do on your old tv.
